Overview

Hear life clearly again

Hearing changes creep up slowly. A missed word here, the TV a little louder there. Our audiology service helps you understand what has changed in your hearing, what may be contributing to it, and what can help.

When hearing aids are the right step, you are supported by our Hearing Aids & Hearing Rehabilitation team and the Hearing Aid Experience Centre, where you can try devices before you decide.

FAQs

Audiology & Hearing Care questions

What happens during a hearing test?
You sit in a quiet, sound-treated room and respond to tones and speech through headphones. It takes about 30 minutes, does not hurt, and your audiologist goes through the results with you straight afterwards.
How do I know if I have hearing loss?
Common hearing loss symptoms include asking people to repeat themselves, turning the volume up, struggling in busy rooms and finding phone calls harder than they used to be. Often the people around you notice before you do. A test settles the question either way.
Do you treat tinnitus?
Yes. We assess tinnitus to understand what is behind it, then work through management options including sound therapy, hearing aids where hearing loss is involved, and strategies to reduce how much it intrudes.
Can I have a hearing test at home or online?
A full hearing test needs to happen in person, either at an Experience Centre or at home where home visits are available. Consultations, results discussions and follow-ups can be done by tele-audiology.
Will hearing loss get worse if I do nothing?
It depends on the cause. Some hearing loss is stable, some is progressive, and some is treatable if caught early. Untreated hearing impairment, sometimes referred to as hearing disability, also makes conversation more tiring and can affect confidence over time, which is why a proper assessment matters even when the change feels small.
