Audiology Services questions

Do I need a referral for a hearing test?

No. You can request an appointment directly. If another doctor has referred you, bring their letter and any previous reports.

How long does a hearing test take?

A comprehensive hearing test usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes, plus time with your audiologist to go through what the results mean.

Will I get my results the same day?

Yes. Your audiologist goes through your results with you straight after testing, explains what they mean and sets out your options.

Can I have a hearing test at home or online?

A full hearing test needs to happen in person, either at an Experience Centre or at home where home visits are available. Consultations, results discussions and follow-ups can be done by tele-audiology.

What does hearing loss treatment involve?

It depends entirely on the cause. Some hearing loss treatment is medical and sits with our ENT team, some is managed with hearing technology and rehabilitation, and some needs monitoring rather than intervention. The assessment is what tells you which.
